Featured Client -

Little Miss Miley is a seasoned traveler, visiting us all the way from Alaska! Her Mom works temporary positions here in Olympia a couple times a year and we get Miley for daycamp.

We affectionately refer to Miley as our “little monkey” her climbing and acrobat skills are unmatched, she is also the fastest running dog ever at the grove! She corners on a dime and her straight away run for the ball is breath taking!

Miley is friends with everyone but especially Dallas and Emmett.

We had a few new daycare puppy additions at The Grove this summer!

Sjoko joined us late this summer, although young and small she is fearless! The bigger the better as far as Sjoko is concerned, her favorite playmates are Sam and Emmett. Sjoko is the newest addition to Dallas’s family.

Axel joined us mid-summer and shares Sjoko’s fearless attitude of life. Axel loves to play chase in the yard and runs to the door with such enthusiasm that he has not learned to use his brakes yet! He is constantly running headfirst into to any door, person, wall or dog! We are hoping he learns to brake soon

Madison is a dainty spaniel cross, while she is not as head strong or fearless as Sjoko and Axel, once she warms up she enjoys a good game of chase. Madison is a softer and sweeter puppy, enjoying the human staff as well as the other dogs.

Sam joined us for daycare early summer and later training sessions with his Mom. Sam is one of the most full throttle dogs I have met in many years. He is extremly smart, always looking for a problem to solve or start. He is very lucky his Mom works from home and is able to dedicate so much to keep him mentally and physically stimulated otherwise I fear he would self combust!

We are happy to meet all the new additions but even prouder of their owners for taking the extra steps to ensure their puppies grow up to be confident, well socialized dogs!

We were able to assist her family in the completion of Hawaii’s strict pet import process and even shipped her to them after they got settled!

While Addie has reportedly been very good in Hawaii, her family came back to the mainland for the summer to visit and we get to spend some time with Addie!

Addie looks great so Hawaii has been good to her and it is like she never left! She settled quickly back into the routines and bossed us around all week

Biscuit had a blast playing with both the little dogs in the morning then out to the big dog play yard in the afternoon (after the big dogs were tired and under supervision!). Biscuit is a beautiful puppy with a very sweet disposition!

I missed almost an entire week of bloggin due to a dog who was staying with us here at The Grove. His name should of been our first warning…”Monster” a beautiful husky with brilliant blue eyes and red coat. Monster was striking, aloof and the best Houdini dog I have ever met!

Having Monster with us for 10 days was exhausting, not because he had medical issues, not because he made a mess but simply the hyper vigilant edge we were all on! I simply couldn’t relax or be gone from direct supervision long enough to even write a blog post;)

Several things Monster’s owner did were key to our successfully boarding Monster, which I think are good points for others who have “Houdini Dogs”.

One: she was honest. Monster’s mom told us upfront that he is incredibly good at escaping – although I still didn’t fully appreciate his amazing abilities until day 3 !

Two: Monster wore at all times two collars, each with an identifying tag. This is because not only was he good at getting out of any kennel, room, building, play yard or other, he also was good at taking his collar off.

Three: Monster’s owner gave us a picture of him and she carries with her a picture of him at all times. This is in case he does escape from home or elsewhere that she is prepared to have copies made and given to the local animal shelter right away.

Four: Monster is of course microchipped.

Despite the hyper vigilant watch and the stress that goes with that, I actually enjoyed having Monster and now he has been gone (back at home with his mom) for two days and it seems something is missing no pun intended!

I regret not getting any photos of Monster to share with you, I didn’t even think of blogging or care free activities during his stay! I am also very thankful we built the kennel with double gates and double doors everywhere! Never have they been so important!

I have a whole new appreciation for all you “Houdini Pet Owners” out there!

A Great Dane and Blue Heeler Best Friends ?

Not a match you would think of I am sure, but this Great Dane and Blue Heeler are inseperable ! Wherever Emmett (Great Dane) goes Katie (Blue Heeler) is sure to follow !

Katie enjoys running around and underneath Emmett. Emmett is so gentle with Katie when she starts her weaving thru his legs, like an agility course, Emmett stands statue still !

Other times, Emmett lays down on the ground to play at Katie’s level! When they are tired they nap next to eachother while Katie licks and cleans Emmett’s long beautiful ears.

What an odd but enjoyable couple We have the joy of watching these two love birds play every week !

Hope your day is full of surprises and remember you never know where you might find love
